Urgent Appeal: Help Us Complete Construction of Our Masjid “Centro Islamico” to Keep Our 35+ Programs & Services Running!

Alhamdulillah, with the generous support from the over 30,000 brothers and sisters like yourself and by the grace of Allah, we have been able to raise what we needed to purchase our new Masjid property, receive the necessary blueprints and permits, and complete construction of the parking lot -all while keeping our programs and services for the past 6 years.

Not only is our Centro Islamico important to the past and present of the rise of Islam among Latinos, but it is also important to the future growth of our Ummah.

err

We Need You Now More Than Ever

According to the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU), Latinos are the fastest-growing group in the U.S to embrace Islam.

In 2009, only 1 out of every 100 Muslims identified as Latino. By 2018, it was 7 out of every 100 Muslims. Today, there are over 250,000 Latino Muslims in the United States.

err
err

“That’s a 700 percent growth in less than 10 years, and no other group has grown at this rate,” -Dalia Mogahed, Director at ISPU. Since COVID-19 locked us in our homes and forced us to go online, we have seen firsthand how many Latinos are in need of and waiting for the guidance that is the light of the Qur’an.

Some of the reasons that they give us for reverting are:

err
err

We have been able to connect with those interested in learning from all corners of the world, and we have been able to provide essential lectures, Khutbahs, and information to those who only speak Spanish all over the world.

It is no surprise that we have helped more than 600 people take their Shahada with us online.

But none of this could have been possible if we didn’t have our Centro Islamico.

err

Meet Raul. Many of you may have already heard his story. Before he became Muslim, Raul was a Punk Rocker in a band. When his Spanish-speaking mother found out that he was Muslim, she threw out all of his clothes and other belongings and kicked him out of the house.

She vowed to NEVER be a part of this religion.

But what happened next was shocking.

A brother handed Raul a card for IslamInSpanish, where he learned that we produce Dawah material in the Spanish language. So Raul took this material back to his family and invited them to our Centro Islamico to attend an open house, Islamic Roots in the Latino Culture.

For the first time, Raul’s mom had the opportunity to meet other Latino Muslims and found out more about Islam.

After just that 1 event, Raul’s sister took her Shahada that very same day -leading up to his father also becoming Muslim (and passing away in the month of Ramadan).

err

A few years later, after having a dream, Raul’s mother finally embraced Islam and took her Shahada at our Centro Islamico.

For the past 6 years, Raul has been volunteering at our Centro Islamico. He is now in charge of sending out Dawah material to the thousands of Latinos requesting it across the world. Through Centro Islamico, Raul was also able to connect with a brother who gave him the opportunity to start a career as an EMT (Paramedic).

Over 8 MILLION people around the world have heard Raul’s story, and many have been inspired to learn about Islam just by watching the story video.

Raul is just 1 of the 1000’s of Latinos who have not only been able to benefit from the programs & services that our Centro Islamico has to offer (online and in-person), but also share the beauty of Islam with 1,000’s more across the world.

If we are forced to close our programs & services, just think of how many people are at risk of being misguided and straying from the path of Allah.

We must ask ourselves,

Can we afford to miss out on this investment?

We get it, our Centro Islamico might be halfway across the country (or world), and you may never have even met a Spanish-speaking Muslim before. But is it enough to say: “Well, I won’t ever visit this place and I don’t even know any Latinos, therefore I’m not going to get involved in doing anything.”? Whether you can afford to give a lot or just a little, is that really an excuse that we have to make in the way of Allah (SWT)? Do we really have the ability to walk away from this and say that sponsoring JUST 1 brick to establish a house of Allah AND spread the wisdom of the Qur’an is something that’s beyond our capacity?

This is a call to secure your spot in Jannah.

The Prophet ﷺ said “He who went to sleep on a full stomach, knowing that his neighbor is hungry, does not believe in me” (At-Tabarani)

By supporting our Masjid, not only will you be benefiting our community by keeping our Centro open, but you will also be securing yourself a palace in Jannah. On top of this, you will also get:

err

This is an amazing opportunity. When thousands of people pray in this mosque for centuries onward, you will get the reward. The knowledge people learn at this mosque will be heavy on your scale of deeds. The good deeds done by those who accept Islam at this Masjid will surprise you on the Day of Judgement because of your generous support.

That’s not all! In the past year alone, generous supporters of our Centro have already been receiving the rewards for helping us share our Islamic educational content with over 10 MILLION people on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok.

InshaAllah, with your support we hope to complete construction of our Centro on time so that we are able to share the message of Islam with thousands of people locally, and many more millions through social media.

Your Support Has Brought Us So Far

Thanks to our over 10,533 generous supporters in 2019, IslamInSpanish was able to become the FIRST-EVER non-relief campaign on the LaunchGood crowdfunding platform to raise over $1 MILLION to help us purchase this property that will be our new Centro.

err

Since then, an additional 15,000 generous supporters (25,000 in total) like yourself have supported us in our endeavors to acquire the proper permits, zoning requirements, and so we can continue spreading the wisdom. (all of which comes with immense rewards in this life and the hereafter).

And now, we are so close to the finish line!

But our work is not yet done. And we need your help to complete the movement that we started together.

Will you be 1 of the 4,000 pioneers to donate just $100 today to help us establish this one-of-a-kind house of Allah?

Who Are We?

IslamInSpanish is an educational non-profit organization (registered 501(c)(3)) that was established out of the need to educate Latinos about Islam in the Spanish language worldwide after the devastating incident of 9/11. It was founded by Jaime “Mujahid” Fletcher, a Colombian revert to Islam whose need to share Islam with his father and family led to discover that there was no material in the Spanish language already available!

Mujahid along with his recently converted wife and father worked together to bring about a balanced understanding of Islam in a culturally relevant manner. This undertaking lead to the creation of their first produced cd entitled “La Religion de la Verdad” (The Religion of Truth) which became the means to his wife’s aunt embracing Islam before her death from Cancer.

Shortly after production, that first CD was distributed to Spanish speakers worldwide with great success. Not only did the CD educate numerous people, but it also lead to many of them accepting Islam as their new way of life. IslamInSpanish’s original mission was to become the number one trusted resource of Islamic multimedia educational resources and products in the Spanish language. To date we have produced over 500 audio books, 250+ television shows, and carried out 1000s of live events in North and Latin America.

As a pioneer and leader it seeks to empower people who will empower their respective communities and bring about a sense of peace and common-good worldwide by clarifying misconceptions of Islam and culturally attaching Latinos to their common Islamic roots historically from Al-Andalus, or Andulucia Spain, to normalize the notion of Islam to Spanish-speakers while encouraging universal principles of a common human good and diversity.
